Wildlife Habitat Canada’s 2023-2024 Grant Programs are here!
As of July 29, the Habitat Conservation Stamp Initiative and the Community Conservation Action Program are both accepting applications for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The application window for both programs will close on October 14, 2022 so be sure to get started on your applications soon!
Habitat Conservation Stamp Initiative
WHC’s larger grant program that is delivered in collaboration with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) in support of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP). This program is funded through the sales of the Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit and the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp. Its priority focuses are wetlands, waterfowl and migratory gamebirds.
- Grant Categories: Habitat Conservation, Conservation Networking, Research
- Requests between $1,000 and $150,000
- A minimum match ratio of 1:1 is required for project eligibility
- This ratio cannot include government funding
- The NL Murre Conservation Fund also falls under this program
- A maximum of $30,000/year may be allotted to projects with a specific focus on Murre populations in Newfoundland and Labrador

Community Conservation Action Program
WHC’s smaller grant program that has a focus on community-based, local conservation action. WHC has contributed $160K/year over 3 years to kickstart this program. The program objectives are Connecting Canadians to Nature, Engaging Youth in Conservation and Providing Educational Conservation Programming. Proposed projects should represent one or more of these objectives.
- Requests between $1,000 and $10,000
- A minimum match ratio of 1:1 is required for project eligibility
