Province partners with Starlink – Ontario OUT of DOORS
More rural, remote, and northern communities will gain access to high-speed internet thanks to a partnership between the province and Starlink.
The new Ontario Satellite Internet (ONSAT) program will offer service to some 15,000 eligible unserved and underserved businesses starting in June 2025, officials stated in a Nov. 14 press release.
More details on the program and the registration process for eligible primary residences and businesses will be available in the spring. It’s part of a nearly $4 billion investment to help bring high-speed internet to every community in the province by the end of next year, officials stated.
Starlink, made and operated by SpaceX, has the world’s first and largest constellation of highly advanced satellites operating in a low-earth orbit to deliver broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls and more.
