Doing the right thing this spring
We’ve heard from many of you in recent weeks with your questions and concerns related to COVID-19 and what it means for fishing and hunting. You have expressed your opinions strongly. We share your concerns in needing to work together to end this pandemic as soon as possible as much as we share your passion for getting out fishing and hunting when it is safe to do so.
Just like you, fishing and hunting helps to define the Federation’s staff and Board of Directors. It is our passion. It is our lifestyle. It is a big part of who we are. We want you to know that we are doing everything we can to support the fishing and hunting community and will continue to do so long after the threat of COVID-19 has ended. Some of you are imploring the OFAH to share a message of ‘stay home and don’t go fishing and hunting’, while others are expressing their desire for the Federation to push to maintain fishing and hunting in a way that is consistent with government health guidelines. Both of these perspectives are important, and the fishing and hunting community needs to support each other throughout these challenging times. We are all in this together.
Although the isolation and quarantine may make it hard to tell that we are starting a long weekend in Ontario, we know that everyone is itching to get outdoors. We wanted to take this opportunity to talk to the fishing and hunting community about everything they should be considering this weekend and for the rest of the spring in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please take some time to review the OFAH’s health and safety advice for anglers and hunters to keep everyone safe this spring – visit www.ofah.org/safetytips.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email covid19@ofah.org.
Enjoy the long weekend. Stay safe. Stay strong.
