As you know, earlier this week the federal government brought forward a significant amendment to firearms Bill C-21 that, if adopted, would significantly expand the definition of a prohibited firearm.
The amendment captures many centre-fire semi-automatic rifles and shotguns “designed to accept a detachable cartridge magazine with a capacity greater than five cartridges of the type for which the firearm was originally designed”, many of which are used by hunters.
Since the news broke, members have been asking us what they can do to push back against this. The amendment still needs to go through several steps of the parliamentary process before it is final, so in the meantime, we’re asking you to contact your local MP and express your thoughts on the situation.
We’ve made doing so easy.
