Moose tag quotas and hunt codes
Moose tag quotas and hunt codes are easily accessible at ontario.ca/moosequotas. Hunters can also access the quotas and hunt codes through the automated phone line at 1-800-288-1155.
Information on the number of tags remaining available for the second chance allocation will be available online and by phone on June 15. Hunt codes for the remaining tag types will remain unchanged between stages.
What to consider when you apply
You can read the 2022 Hunting Regulations Summary for information on the minimum points that a hunter needed to be awarded each tag type in 2021.
The minimum points required are not set by the ministry and may be different in 2022 based on tag quotas and applicants’ points. There is no guarantee of success based on having the same number of points required in previous years, however this information may assist you with applying for your preferred tag this year.
There is more information on what to consider when you apply at ontario.ca/moosetagprocess and on page 67 of the Moose section in the 2022 Hunting Regulations Summary.
You can view your moose points online by visiting huntandfishontario.com or by calling the automated phone line at 1-800-288-1155. Learn how to view your moose points online.

Primary allocation results and how to claim your tag
Results for the primary allocation will be available on May 16 online at huntandfishontario.com or by phone at 1-800-288-1155. June 7 is the deadline to claim a tag you’ve been awarded. Your points will reset to zero the following year when you claim a tag in the primary allocation. If you choose not to claim the tag awarded to you, simply do not claim your tag and you will retain your points for a future allocation.
To claim your tag, you must purchase your moose licence and your tag prior to the tag claim deadline. You cannot hunt on a tag you have been awarded unless you’ve purchased it with your moose licence, printed it and are carrying it with you.
