Community Projects Fund

Making Fishing and Hunting Accessible

Thank you for considering OFAH Membership as your partner in fishing and hunting education, outreach and accessibility. We’re excited to support projects that help engage new anglers, hunters, and conservationists across Ontario.

Projects can include:

  • Engaging youth in fishing, hunting, and conservation,
  • New angler and hunter programming, and
  • Projects that make fishing and hunting more accessible

Applications for the Community Projects Fund are being accepted until 11:59pm on March 16, 2025.

Projects focused on on-the-ground conservation or conservation education will be supported by OFAH Foundation’s Community Conservation Fund.

Please note projects may only apply to one of the OFAH Membership Community Projects Fund (CPF) or the OFAH Foundation Community Conservation Fund (CCF).

Who Can Apply for Funding?

Any fishing, hunting, or conservation club in Ontario that is registered as a business, not-for-profit, or charity can apply if they have a suitable project occurring in Ontario. Eligible projects from OFAH Clubs will be prioritized.

Eligible Activities for the OFAH Membership Community Projects Fund
Making Fishing and Hunting Accessible – Human Dimensions

These activities focus on engaging individuals in the fishing and hunting community:

  • New angler and hunter recruitment, education, and mentorship programs (including women’s programs)
  • Youth fishing derbies or programs
  • Youth hunting programs
  • Inclusion initiatives to increase participation and outreach to existing anglers and hunters
Making Fishing and Hunting Accessible – Infrastructure

These activities focus on improving infrastructure to make fishing and hunting more accessible: 

  • Building or repairing accessible fishing platforms, docks, boats, signage, urban fishing nodes, and boat launches
  • Developing or repairing accessible hunting trails, signage, and blinds

Projects on club-owned property must include or support one or both of youth or adult-onset angler and hunter initiatives, or increased accessibility.

Ineligible Expenses for Projects:  

  • Ongoing operational or administrative costs;
  • Permanent staff positions;
  • Emergency or deficit financing;
  • Legal actions;
  • Travel or meals for conferences and seminars;
  • General fundraising;
  • Land acquisition;
  • Prizes, including trophies; and,
  • T-shirts and other clothing

Multi-Year Agreements

Clubs can apply for multi-year agreements if they have confirmed annually occurring activities such as:

  • Youth hunting programs
  • Youth fishing programs
  • Youth fishing derbies
  • New angler and hunter programming
Fixed Amount Grants

For youth fishing derbies and youth fishing programs, please use the OFAH Membership Community Projects Fund Fixed Amount Grant application form. Applications for Fixed Amount Grants may be multi-year.

Eligible expenses for the OFAH Membership Community Project Fund Fixed Amount Grant

  • Stocked fish and feed
  • Port-o-potty rental
  • Equipment rentals (e.g., sound system, tables)
  • Food for youth on derby day
  • Supplies
  • Worms
  • Busing (programs only)
  • Entrance fees (programs only)
  • Fishing equipment (programs only)

Ineligible expenses include:

  • Prizes, including trophies
  • T-shirts and other clothing
